02 Nov CBD for Rheumatoid Arthritis
CBD derived from hemp has been shown to reduce many inflammatory conditions that lead to chronic pain (source). One such condition is rheumatoid arthritis.
What is rheumatoid arthritis?
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that affects almost all systems of the body with some of the most severe effects on the joints. The treatment of rheumatoid arthritis involves the use of pain relievers and corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. Unfortunately, some of these medications can have troublesome side effects.
The role of CBD in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
A study conducted by the British Royal National Hospital in January 2000 investigated whether CBD extracts could effectively treat rheumatoid arthritis. Over a five-week period, investigators reported an improvement in pain when moving and resting. Patients also slept better and experienced less intense pain and inflammation. Another study also linked CBD to slowed progression of arthritis.
